sr. langosta

Preverbal Cover.jpg

Hailing from the great land of Puerto Rico, Sr. Langosta has been in the basement mixin up the medicine: a solid stew of Acid Jazz, Fusion, and Rock that hints clearly at the greats of the 70's. Jorge Andres Ferrreras leads the band on guitar, with Manuel Rodriguez on bass, Gamaliel Santiago on percussion, Alexandra Rivera on keys, and Timothy Cooper on vibes. Together they travel the sonic spaceways, exploring the roots at the intersection of Jazz and Rock. This is fun music to listen to, yet you can feel the composer throughout. We are very excited about this band, and urge you to drop in here to discover the world of Sr. Langosta.

About sr. langosta

Sr. Langosta is the musical project from composer and guitar player Jorge Andrés Ferreras. Taking the idea of jazz and mixing it with other musical styles like afro-caribbean influence rhythms, the psychedelia of rock, with funk grooves and instrumental improvisation. Sr. Langosta formed in 2013, with Gamaliel Santiago in drums and Manuel Rodríguez on electric bass. Under the musical direction of Ferreras, the group recorded their debut album in Casa Fantasmes in Santurce, Puerto Rico. The homonymous album was released in April 2014, getting a good reception from the public. Thanks to this, Sr. Langosta started playing around Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Panamá; where they played couple of nights at Danilo’s Jazz Club, and gave a master class about their compositions in Danilo Pérez Foundation. Closing the year ranking at #7 for 2014's best independent music by Puerto Rico Indie. The following year of 2015 involved a media/ promotional tour in Colombia and California, presenting their work on various radio stations. 2016 was a very ambitious year for the group, recording and producing the second album. Along with the expansion of the group, introducing Alexandra Rivera on keyboards and Timothy Cooper on percussion and vibraphone, as well with the addition of other musicians. The new material has a fresh new sound, with a wider instrumentation and deep arrangement. Aside from working on the album, Sr. Langosta has been actively performing around Puerto Rico and in Mexico.
